In-Person Cinch Making Class

In-Person Cinch Making class scheduled for May 3-4, 2023 in Pendleton, Oregon during Pendleton Cattle Barons! Click the link below for more info/to sign up!
We will cover stringing 17 and 19 strand straight cinches, weaving in center dee rings, weaving detail work and shapes, calculating 8-ply and detail cord, mapping designs out, and also breast collars and English girths if there is interest. We will also go over cinch-fit on live horses, as well as discussing the pros and cons of different cinch types!

Over the years, we've learned that the most important "thing" you can bring with you is a positive learning attitude. We will cover a lot of information in two days- if you have never tied before or even touched Mohair, that's 100% ok! We have had many people come to class without experience, and we start from "ground zero" as far as information goes. If you get frustrated super easily, this may not be the class for you, however. The skills are not highly advanced, but there is a bit of a learning curve on day one. You will be able to ask as many questions as you want, as well as take videos for your own reference to watch when you get home. We have never not had someone leave class with a useable cinch!

If you have tied before, you will likely learn a lot, and be able to really hone your skills because you have an understanding of the initial techniques.

Included: a set of our straight cinch measurement cards, materials for two cinches, tools (yours to keep). You may opt to borrow a frame, bring your own if you already have one, or build your own ahead of time (sources for information on building your own will be provided upon class registration).

Our goal is to equip you with a strong foundational knowledge of cinch construction, so you are comfortable and confident in your ability to build high-quality gear that will last! If you're unsure what cinch sizes you need, please visit this page:
